This particular slumber seems too easy for our group. What ends up happening is we farm him for TONS of Ether with almost no risk. We then immediately enter Lucid Mode which just lets us farm Ether even faster. (Note, he has a Contact/Assault 10 action for 1 Ether)
his Basic and Special actions do nothing until he Morphs? And with Lucid Mode it’s pretty easy to find cards that block turn steps or add/remove Turns to avoid him from ever Morphing at all.
Yes, this Slumber ultimately broke the game for me and my brother too.
We were playing along just fine with the challenge of the game as intended, but eventually he (playing reaper and having built a "wrath deck" was reliably able to hit 10 or 20 wrath every turn if he played well. Then he Lucid Dreamed the first time. He has every Ether token on his board, and can just Lucid into every dream we try and he just gets to interact with all the pieces and fear nothing because he can always just Lucid again right after
Are the universal tokens shared by the team or gained individually?
Yes, we are playing it correctly. Entering Lucid Mode, with 6 Lucid cards, it's nearly guaranteed to have the 10 Intent to "buy back" 1 Ether.
The main issue is that his BASIC and SPECIAL actions do literally nothing until/unless he performs a MORPH action. So if the Turn cards flip lucky (or you can block the MORPH step) there is zero risk and you can just stand next to him and farm Ether for 6 turns.
Remember that the Tall Man is a Big Entity, and he may push your Dreamers from safe spaces. Blocking the Turn Steps and manipulating the Tall Man's movement is a way to go – so you probably "solved" this Slumber. Having one "treasure" inside the Slumber deck is probably a nice thing to have ;)
And remember that the 10 Intent required to get 1 Ether must be paid in full by 1 player at once (this is not a gradual action!) and it requires a certain range (Assault / Contact range).
Also remember that ignoring each 1 Step by a given Dreamer requires discarding 1 Universal token.
So, for example, if 2 Dreamers are standing in dangerous spaces, and in this Turn there are 2 Turn steps that causes a negative effect, each of these 2 Dreamers should discard 2 Universal tokens so that no one would feel the negative effect.
