Assault/Contact actions have an explicit range of 1. What is the range for another type of action on an entity? Example: the first action on the"wraith behind my back" slumber tile (that costs 7awareness)? My guess is I have to be on the same space. Friend's guess is in any range.
Please provide a reference, I haven't found anything explicit in the manual.
P.S. Stole the first image I found on google.
This is me giving a solution to my own problem. Making stuff up for lack of explicit information. tldr: I made my own rule. “Any action unlike most - that does not target - can be used by just paying it’s cost” Game Manual
page9
SLUMBER ENTITY TILES
Interactions are actions you can perform with (or against) the Entity. If you are within the required range from the Entity, you can perform that action. Page11 RANGE Most actions and effects requiring a target have a specific range (…) In any range” or “unlimited range” doesn’t mean you may affect spaces behind Walls or Blocked spaces (…) If a rule states “in any space”, you may ignore range, Walls and Blocked spaces. Page 16 FLYING RULE
Effects or actions given in this blue frame are not related to the space in which the frame is located but concern the whole Dreamscape. If such a frame contains an action, you may perform it regardless of range (…) Regarding the first action on the Slumber Entity tile “Wraith behind my back” shown on page 9 of the Game Manual: “7 awareness: Place 1 “Light” token on your tile.” Arrows clearly indicate this is an interaction.
This is not an “Assault/Contact” action, there is no range specified, nor is this in a “Flying Rule” blue frame. 1 – Does this action have a target? A1 – What’s the target? Entity? Tile or Space the dreamer is on?
A2 – What’s the range to this target and why?
B – What makes an action have a target? (besides Assault/Contact)? Assuming this action is used against the entity and does not target anything, then as per “Range” rule – “Most actions...have a specific range” – I can very weakly infer that this is an action unlike most, and thus does not have a specific range. Then, for lack of any sort of explicit mention, I make up my own rule: “Any action unlike most - that does not target - can be used by just paying it’s cost”.
Everything is range 0, unless otherwise stated. Assault and Contact are range 1 (as stated).
Reference: page 12, Map actions:
"To perform a Map action (an action written on a Slumber/Dream Map tile), the Dreamer's miniature must be in that action's space (unless it's an Assault/Contact action)."
