The gem ability on this tile reads “(gem): Each Dreamer’s Distress limit is increased by 2“. How long does this effect last? How do you track this if you pay the cost multiple times? And do you die if it resets below your current distress level?

I dont think those powers with gems on the dreamscape can be paid many times. You put a gem in the space for that and that's it: the power is on until you enter a dream or you remove the gem from the space (when you are in that space too). rule book p.16

And yes I'm pretty sure you die if you remove the gem or enter a dream with more than 8 distress

Is that what that clear thing is in the corner? A hollow gem for holding? I had no idea what those things were. I thought it was one of those, you‘ll learn it later deals. Thanks

@Mark Maia Yup, it's as @Arno Janson says. This works like a "switch". You drop a Shining Gem there and that effect is now active until you remove the Shining Gem or the Slumber Map is discarded (for instance, when you start a Dream).
