The dream gate tile specifies a "read a book" action, which contains the "choose" word. So if i use this action, i can look athe books pool and choose one book, by looking at the "back" of the card, but i cannot look at the front. It looks simple. But on the front side of some books, there is a sentence about shuffling back the card to the books pool. Why should i shuffle, if the books pool is always visible, the choosing of new books is not random? It feels weird.

You shuffle them because a bunch of the books have identical backs. Shuffling the deck prevents you from just systematically working through those ones.
